IsoDraw headaches

Does anyone know how to quickly view IsoDraw files? any kind of viewer? i know you can do a file open and see tiny thumbnails there, but I am hoping for a more user friendly program. BTW, I just discovered today that you can actually use lotus notes of all things to view large thumbnails of .iso, an...

Re: Technical illustration best tools

The standard Illustration platform for Technical Illustration in the military fields is generally ISODraw. Not the most intuitive, but the more you use it, the more powerful it can be.

Re: SOLIDWORKS Composer

How has the job/project gone for you? Output from composer for me has been.....wonky. I gave up on it and just went back to CAD(Catia for me)--->IsoDraw. The composer makes neat little animations, but I have found that to be more of a gimmick more than anything else. Training guys like it, but don't...

Re: 3DVia Composer anyone?

I am also in the Aerospace industry, and while the animations are popular with our training guys, the actual field mechanics prefer their printed books. Besides, composer relies completely on complete, up to date, 3D models. Our company as with 95% of other other companies use 3rd party parts, and t...

Re: programs for creating illustrations from AutoCad (DWG) f

IsoDraw With CadProcess (3d file manipulation add-on) its a little over $11,000. (I am sure it is much cheaper without the 3D component, but I don't have pricing on the isodraw by itself. Pricey, I know. Very worth it though. Not that I recommend it, but there are other ways of obtaining a copy, but...

Re: Illustrator file format for Microsoft Word

Just export the Illustrator file to a tiff at 300DPI and call it a day.

Word will also import CGMs. Illustrator 10, (if you can dig it out of all those aol cds you have in your bottom drawer) will output CGMs as well. But Adobe took out that functionality in more recent versions. Thanks Adobe.

Re: programs for creating illustrations from AutoCad (DWG) f

I just looked at the Lattice3D. Interesting program. Looks very much like 3Dvia Composer, which I have some experience with. Programs like that can be somewhat useful if you have complete 3D assembly models, with integrated CAD data such as part numbers etc. But it sounds like you only have basic DW...

Re: programs for creating illustrations from AutoCad (DWG) f

I have been using IsoDraw for about 12 years, mostly for different defense contractors and high-end commercial companies. I really like it and it is very intuitive with some very powerful features. You can import DWGs and with a few tools turn your orthographic views into some 3d views. It is very p...

Re: 3DVia Composer anyone?

Well I did my (what turned out to only be one week) of training on Catia. Have you ever drank from a firehose? It was kinda like that. And the trainer even said that we were just scratching the surface after that. It was some intense stuff. And it is not very user friendly. I REALLY miss SolidWorks....

Re: 3DVia Composer anyone?

Both Catia and 3Dvia training has been pushed off for a little further into the fall unfortunately. But I will ask about the surface modeling, and keep the thread updated.
