Re: Best Camera/Lens for Shooting Reference Photos?

As JuanCal says... it depends : ) Presuming the purpose is to create a tech Illustration the main thing is to be as far away from the subject as reasonably possible - to minimise perspective distortion. Having said that you obviously need to balance that against retaining enough detail - so the furt...

Re: St. Paul's Cathedral - isometric cutaway

Having returned from the visit I wished I'd looked more carefully to see if it was created on one single sheet of paper - my guess is it was. In that case I wonder how they created it? Maybe hung vertically on a wall??
The amount of work involved is amazing. No copy and paste or SSR for these guys!

It was pretty much a random choice - I simply wanted to show the level of detail...

St. Paul's Cathedral - isometric cutaway

Thought you guys might enjoy this: A few weeks ago I was visiting the Victoria and Albert museum - the'V&A' - in London. It's London's major museum dedicated to art and design. They have a small architecture department, and in it I found this amazing isometric cutaway. That's my 14 year old daughter...

Re: Art Agents?

I agree with Jim that the rep era is pretty much over. Back in the day when the only way to get your work in front of a prospect was dragging a folder of A3 prints around and wearing out your shoe leather - they had reason for existence. Now you work is just a click or two away.

Re: 3D software for illustration / visualisation

Hi Paul, It's still a relevant topic. I'd love to love MODO, but last time I tried it - probably back at 601 - it was too unstable for me. 801 looks very tempting, but from what I've read they don't seem to have improved it's stability much, if at all. Stability is pretty much #1 priority for me. C4...

Re: Illustrator Output from MoI

Don kindly allowed me to use his model to try a the same output in Rhino - using the 'make2D' command which can then be exported to ai. Illustrator screenshot attached. Similar, but not identical, results in terms of the path construction as you might expect. As per MOI the output does use curved be...

Re: Illustrator Output from MoI

Hi Don, Thanks for posting this. I've been keeping an eye on MOI, and was aware v3 was out this week. I've briefly seen some other early beta tests of this line output on the MOI forum - they looked good too. Nice that you can generate some basic thick and thin with it. I do have an older version of...
