Re: New Work

Happy New Year everyone! Here is a little illustration I did at the end of this year. I found a free CAD model online and used Cinema 4D to place it in the proper isometric angle and then I drew all of the line art in Adobe Illustrator. The Astute Graphics plug-ins are fantastic! Using the marker to...

Certifications

Hey all, Things have been quite quiet here on the site and forum. Hopefully that means you are all busy working out there. :D I have a question regarding certifications as a technical illustrator. I've seen jobs requiring or requesting different levels of certifications (CAD, drafting, technical ill...

Re: New Work

Finally I can share this with you guys! This is an animation I worked hard for a month to create at my company for a proposal. This is the most detailed 3D model I have built/animated yet (so check it out at the highest resolution). My animation/3D model: Psyche Spacecraft Deployment: https://www.yo...

Re: New Work

Here is a little glimpse into some of the art that I create for SSL. We recently had a dual launch of two of our satellites. I produced three separate animations and my coworker produced another animation while another coworker pieced together and edited the final video which was played during the l...

The Most Realistic Digital Pencil Brush

Recently, one of my talented friends at Dreamworks posted some digital art that strikingly looked as if done with a traditional graphite pencil. She provided a link to the creator of the amazing brush for Photoshop. I highly recommend downloading it. It's free! Anymore I just sketch things out on th...

Re: St. Paul's Cathedral - isometric cutaway

Mike, I looked up the history online. This was created in the 20s by a few draftsmen and took 5 years to complete as restoration was being made to the cathedral. It was sketched in pencil then inked over (apparently if you look close enough in person you can see some of the pencil construction lines).

Re: St. Paul's Cathedral - isometric cutaway

That is very impressive! Especially considering the fact that the line-weights were observed and kept consistent down to the smallest detail. I have a lot of respect for that as many illustrators tend to be lazy and don't keep consistent and well thought out line-weights. Thanks for sharing this!
