Re: Flash for animation

Now I'm looking at how feasible it is to do a 3D animation with Flash! Reason? I have all the vectors built so I have lot of the legwork done. Should I learn/switch to a 3D platform? Probably yes. But at the moment I still see it as chasing another rabbit hole.

Re: Illustrator file format for Microsoft Word

@mattyr64 Thanks for pointing out about the settings in Word. Even though my PNGs were 300dpi, whenever I PDF'd my Word document my images looked less than sharp. And I used the highest quality PDF authoring setting. I looked under Word Options > Advanced > Image Size and Quality and found the defau...

Re: Flash for animation

I noticed you had used Swiffy for the flexible solar panel animations. I hadn't heard of Swiffy before, the internet will tell you all...
Good to know it works well. I love that sample btw. It's not just animation for the sake of it, but contains information.

Flash for animation

I'm working for a client creating line-art illustrations for assembly manuals. Eventually their website will also need work and I'm keeping that in mind as I build my files. There may be need to have some of the working parts illustrated for viewing on the web. Is Flash still the way to go for anima...

Re: Illustrator file format for Microsoft Word

The more I'm punting this idea around, the more I'm inclined to produce the technical manuals in Adobe Indesign.
I realize it's not the standard program for this sort of thing, but if there's no collaborative writing, and reviews will be PDF based, then I don't see why I need to stick with Word.

Re: Symbols or placed instances for multiple Illustrator fil

Seems to work pretty well. Again, the preview on screen can look choppy, but then looks fine in printout and as a PDF. Does depend on what PDF writer you use...

Re: Illustrator file format for Microsoft Word

Is it okay to use EPS in a Word doc? The images look really weird on screen, but perhaps they print out better.

Re: programs for creating illustrations from AutoCad (DWG) f

Thanks for the reply. Yup, I'm using Adobe Illustrator for now. Is it ideal? I'm currently using a Creo viewer to get the isometric projection that works for me, then I make a PDF, bring it into Illustrator, then redraw. It's not perfect, but a vast improvement from what they have been doing to date...

Symbols or placed instances for multiple Illustrator files

FYI....James gives me kick-backs for each thread I start on here. Here is my newest. I'm trying to find best-practices for reusing content in Illustrator. Originally I thought I would create multiple layers for each "step" I'm illustrating. This has worked for the most part, but I'm running issues w...

Re: programs for creating illustrations from AutoCad (DWG) f

Thanks for the responses. Yeah I found it interesting that the Latice3D people had little or now information as to product cost. I don't like when the only way you can find out what a piece of software costs is by having them contact you. Anyway, the company I'm with uses PTC Crea for some of their ...
