Re: Any interest in a new axonometric set-up tool for Ai?

I'd love to see them offer single plug-ins available for purchase, broken out separately from the complete CADtools package. This way, users could purchase only the specific plug-ins they need, to fit their workflow. Similar to Astute Graphic's model. And $350 is a chunk of change to plunk down for...

This sounds pretty useful, Greg. Would it be accurate to describe it as "lite" version of Hot Door CADtools Axonometric Drawing tools? At $349 CADtools is pretty steep if you're only using a few of the tools, and adds a lot of bloat. Your next question is probably what people are willing to pay for ...

Re: Illustrator: Patterns where the repeat isn't so noticeab

Looking good, very detailed! Check out this script called Vary Hues . It allows you to vary or randomize the fill color, stroke color or opacity of the selected objects. In the case of the roof, what you could do is make a copy of the roof object with the shingle-pattern fill to a new layer. Then Ex...

Re: Technical illustration best tools

I think Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and fundamental.

I'm not a big fan of Adobe—I wish there was an alternative—but I think they're still the most fully-featured and widely-used pixel and vector editors respectively.

Re: SOLIDWORKS Composer

I've had a couple of projects where clients supplied vector output from CAD (probably SolidWorks). So far I've always redrawn/traced it with the Pen in Illustrator. It just makes for a cleaner basis for whatever I'm doing from there. A quick and dirty method I've used is selecting everything and mak...
