Re: Portfolio Websites

The cost vs. benefit of free portfolio sites can't be beat. At best, you find an audience, then draw them to your site to seal the deal. At worst, you're out the 20 minutes or so it took to upload your work. I'm on pretty much everything I could find, Flickr, Behance, Illustrationmundo, Coroflot, D...

Re: Perspective question

I usually experiment with simple shapes first to get my perspective right. Lately I'll draw a side view and front view maybe and screw with the perspective grid tool in illustrator to get the angle I want, that's kind of fun. Drawing an engine would be a lot easier in ISO but would really show off s...

Re: Autocad Tutorials

I think you can get autocad for the mac for around $850, I was just running the trial version under parallels for some freelance work. I hate using Autocad for 2d work unless it's stuff that needs to be measured to scale. I did that in my previous job for about 13 years. Ended up drawing everything ...

Re: copyright talk...

With the kind of work I do, which is mostly technical instructions specific to a brands product, I don't bother with any of that. Charge them a fair price and they can have the work and do what they want with it. I hire photographers for my full time job and I love the guys who just give us the phot...

Re: Perspective Gride with Illutrator

I've been using it more and more to help me decide the best angles to draw in. Recently someone sent me some work where they had already drawn side, front and rear views of a product and I was able to map a lot of it onto my perspective grid to save some drawing time. I found this adobe video pretty...

Re: New Work

Not exactly new but I put up a more complete gallery of my Honda Genuine Parts Ads on my new Cargo based site. That was a really fun project and I had total freedom to do anything I wanted: http://www.hatchillustrations.com/#2245525/Honda-Genuine-Parts-Ad-Illustrations Awesome, have not seen the qu...

Re: The Future of this Forum?

Yea we kind of need this forum as annoying as all the fake accounts are. Sorry I haven't been more helpful with that, it's hard to keep up with and figure out what's real and what's not. Maybe we need an incentive for someone to take that job over. Want my old intuos 2 platinum?
