SubScribe Designer for Illustrator - now free to all

Hi all, Back on the main blog you might well remember James' post about SubScribe Designer - the plugin from Astute Graphics. It was originally available only to current customers - but I noticed a couple of days ago it's now freely available to all. Well worth a download IMO. http://www.astutegraph...

Re: New work

Sorry to be late to the party on this one. I was going to comment earlier, but 'life' got in the way :) First, I've got to say I'd be really happy if this were mine. You've done a great job - especially on the metallic surfaces, but I think Jim is spot on: removing the drop shadow has really 'un-fla...

Re: Post Your Workspace!

Hi Steven,
That's some futuristic looking studio you have there ;)
How do you find the sharpness and useability of the TV compared to a regular monitor?

Re: New work

Hi James - thanks for the comments. Yes - the 'solid' end faces and the transparent body came off better than I could have hoped. Illustrating a product were the 'holes' are a significant feature proved tricker than I expected. Your edit comment is spot on. I needed to show that crossing drainage tu...

Re: New work

Don, Thanks for the kind words and encouragement - always appreciated. The grey cylinders are voids (100mm dia.) filled with a rubber material. They're designed to act as vibration dampers - and also have the benefit of reducing the overall weight of the slab. I always find it amazing how much scien...

Re: New work

Hi all, As the board's a little quiet, I thought I'd put up a recent job. Not the most exciting job I've ever done, but there were some 'interesting' aspects... Here's the finish: http://www.vantagegraphics.co.uk/PostedOnTheWeb/120731HS_025_04_Assy1f_800px.jpg A higher res version here: http://www.v...

Re: New work

I put up the tech art I did for the new ICON Airmada Helmet that launched today. http://www.hatchillustrations.com/ICON-Airmada-Helmet-Technical-Illustrations. Beautiful illustrations Jim - as always. The tonal variation / control in what is a predominantly greyscale image is gorgeous. Were you wor...

Re: Perspective question

The Lynx - along with most of my 3D stuff - is done with a combination of FormZ and / or Cinema 4D. C4D is better at modelling organic shapes and is good for texturing and rendering; FormZ is rather more 'engineering' oriented and is good for more 'precision' modelling. They both have their strength...

Re: Perspective question

That's the one - thanks James. I'd forgotton it was in iso, not perspective - but it still might be helpful.
