Total OutSource Canada Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario is looking for a Technical Illustrator/Draftsperson
Responsibilities / Duties
Authoring:
Responsible for the creation of solid models of objects/components/assemblies and associated two dimensional illustrations for use in SGML/ XML publishing environment for technical manuals involving military equipment and commercial/private sector products
Responsible to ensure that all solid models and illustrations created, conform to the
SGML/XML, S1000D specification, the TOCI authoring guidelines and project specific guidelines established by the Department of National Defence (DND)/Department of Defense (DOD) and Aviation Technology Association (ATA) specifications
Responsible for the translation of engineering drawings and BOM (bill of material) data into isometric technical illustrations and related illustrated parts lists
Use a variety of software products to review and incorporate legacy information into solid models and illustrations.
Communication:
Prepare progress reports, based on authored objects, for the CAD & Illustrations Supervisor
Liaise with Technical Writers, Trainers and clients to ensure completeness and exactness of illustrations and
drawings
Document all relevant activities (e.g. telephone conversations, meetings, email etc.) Provide input for design, documentation, and procedures to various departments.
Experience:
Experience with Autodesk products (Inventor, AutoCAD) developing solid models, assemblies,
presentations and isometric & perspective technical illustrations.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
Experience in mechanical drafting (ASME Y14.5 standard) Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems

Desirable:
• Able to work in both official languages (oral and written)
• Level II Security
• ITAR and Controlled Goods compliant
• Experience with Military equipment and technologies
• Experience with Aviation equipment and technologies
• Knowledge of image editing programs
• Knowledge of the DND/DOD CALS, and the ATA-100/ATA-2100, S1000D
• Experience developing illustrations for commercial technical documentation and Canadian Forces
• Technical Orders (CFTO) to specifications
