Responsibilities for this Position:
General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS) has an immediate opening for a Senior Technical Writing Specialist to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to draft key business documents that support some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. GDAIS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Illustrator will collaborate with technical writers and engineers to produce schematics, isometrics, and various training material for use in electronic documentation. The applicant should possess a broad spectrum of graphic development, including line art, photo editing, and interface design.
Additional Responsibilities
Exercise creative thinking and ideation to advance our business performance.•Deliver innovative, flexible, integrated solutions to meet customers’ changing business needs.
•Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDAIS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
•Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDAIS’s services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
Candidates should demonstrate a strong ability to draft and edit business documents. The Technical Illustrator must have a bachelor’s degree in a related specialty or the equivalent, and six to eight years of related experience. Applicants with a master's degree and three to five years of related experience also qualify.
Department of Defense secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required
Required Key Skills:
•Strong communication skills and presentation skills required
•2 years in Technical Illustration required
•Strong knowledge of vector and raster graphics required
•Proficient in CorelDRAW Technical Suite required
Qualifications (Preferred):
•Knowledge of SGML/XML/HTML authoring preferred
•Good computer tools background (Content Management Systems, MS Office Suite) preferred
•Experience with ProE preferred
•Photoshop or similar experience preferred
