Technical illustration best tools

Hi,

I am a beginner in technical illustration....
Which are the best tools, beside Solid Works Composer and Catia Composer?
Maybe Adobe Photo and Adobe Illustrator?
What else?

Thank you!

Re: Technical illustration best tools

I think Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and fundamental.

I'm not a big fan of Adobe—I wish there was an alternative—but I think they're still the most fully-featured and widely-used pixel and vector editors respectively.

What other tools are available for this particular job?

The standard Illustration platform for Technical Illustration in the military fields is generally ISODraw. Not the most intuitive, but the more you use it, the more powerful it can be.

What about the free illustration software like gimp or a free vector software like inkscape?

Maybe to start out on but if you are serious about doing it professionally I probably wouldn't bother with the free stuff.
I use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop mostly. Keyshot and Rhino for occasional 3d stuff and reference. Poser for people reference.
Does anyone still use Corel? Haven't tried it in years?
